The experts opine
that phantom pain in
an amputated limb
is not well understood,
hard to define.
All is not as it should
be.

I eat dinner watching TV,
and look at a chair
for someone not there
who isn't sitting eating
and watching the show with me.
Forty-four years is fleeting
when lost.
