Originally this was the second of two paired sonnets written for a contest. Having split them, I've left the project open-ended. 

English sonnets linked through the couplet, this one rhymed ABAB. Quatrains in iambic pentameter, couplets in iambic hexameter. 

As noted elsewhere, the drop earrings in photo 2 are not "sapphires" but are metallic with a sapphire-coloured sheen - it's not immediately obvious unless you are close to the photo, difficult in a scan. The enlargements for the first two poems are in a clear line of vision for all who sit in our lounge room.
