Note on: Madeira’s Not The Same

Written for a contest where we were asked us to write something that took a cliché and transformed it so that it was not quite what it was supposed to be. My original thought was "in the nick of time", but then with the flooding rain we've had a bit too much of recently in Sydney and elsewhere I decided on "any port in a storm." But I kept that first one in the following poem because it involves a close friend. Take a bow, Nick Ferrara. And forgive me playing with your name😂🤣

Written as an English Sonnet, each quatrain rhyming ABBA and in iambic heptameter. The rhyming end couplet is in anapestic pentameter except for the last foot, iambic, as I kept the normal wording of the 5-syllable phrase.
