Written for a brevity poem contest by Line Gauthier, a Canadian poet from Ottawa: "#987 MAX 6 lines - QUOTE is prompt" - the quote was as follows:
"I wasn't looking to dance
but your soul sang a song
I couldn't resist."
That sounded like a perfect description of Juliet to me. I won't pretend this happened the first day we met, but we both loved singalongs. It wasn't long before she edged her way in and snuggled up to me, for she did indeed catch me: her eyes her smile, her voice. And I tell the truth about my dancing skills, she would apologise when I trod on her feet.
The poem won an honourable mention (sixth out of 22 entries)
