Note on: Butterfly Smiles

I think this is my shortest poem.

Both it and Fairy Tale were written in October 1981. Juliet and I were due to be married on December 4. You would think we would have spent most of that time together. Unfortunately for me, Juliet did her final elective term from medical school working under supervision in Lautoka Hospital in Fiji for about 8 weeks in October & November 1981 - we'd been engaged since March. With no internet, no mobile phones, once a week, I would drive about an hour to the International Airport, in the early evening, as it was one of the two sites in Sydney that allowed dialing through overseas without an operator to intervene, and we'd talk until the slug of coins I'd withdrawn from the bank ran out. But we sent letters most days, 66 between us in that short time, and this was a brief poem I penned for her during that period, working just from recollections of her face.. A few tiny changes in this in the updated version.

3 simple verses, each 3 simple lines, rhyming first and last lines.
