Note on: Autumn Feelings

"Autumn Feelings" is the second of some collaborative poems that follow a particular structure. In this case, the first verse has one line of one syllable. The second has two lines each of two syllables. My part was verse 5 - so five lines of free verse each with five syllables. The lead poet was Jonathan Wilson, with contributions from Bethany Laurel, Imagery (both their "poet names), Line Gauthier and me - we use our real names.

Here is the full poem:

AUTUMN FEELINGS

I. (Jonathan)
Fall

II. (Bethany)
red leaves
cool breeze

III. (Line)
the day dawns
eve follows
lovers cross

IV. (Imagery)
their last moments
before he's gone
so bittersweet
this autumn tryst

V. (Peter)
The wind picks up and
throws colours skyward.
Emotions are roiled
similarly. There
is no sense. They’re gone.
