(by which coming, the coming of the once and future king, Arthur, is engendered)
Gorlois* was the grand duke of Cornwall
and had married Ygraine** who performed all
the duties expected
of a wife so connected
and answered each time he would call.
But Gorlois owed duty to Uther:
their relationship could have run smoother.
The cause of the strife
was Ygraine, his wife,
For Pendragon had wanted to soothe her.
So Gorlois and Ygrain fled the king,
like two arrows from a bowstring.
They fled to the coast to
their land which played host to
their castles, defences so daunting.
Ygraine was the future king's mother,
for Merlin predicted no other
would do. But King Uther
would have to seduce her,
while Gorlois, well he was a bother.
In the night, Merlin lured the Duke
with a spell, for the fog was no fluke.
With the king in disguise,
Ygraine was the prize
he could take without any rebuke.
But Melin had asked for a boon
as reward for the spell he had hewn.
The child they conceived
from his mum would be cleaved,
and nine months would come very soon.
All turned out as Merlin predicted
and on Ector was Arthur inflicted,
While his wife, never named,
had her poor nipples maimed
which made Ector's son, Kay, conflicted.
For years Arthur grew up with Ector,
and was squired to Kay, his protector.
